I have a 2004 Toyota Prius. For the last year now, I hear a SINGLE click when I accelerate after breaking (almost to a full stop- between 0 and ~30 mph). I hear that sound (slightly less loud) when braking at medium speed, but only sometimes. It sounds like it is coming from the drivers side/transmission. It also sounds like metal on metal.

I have checked the calipers/break pads and replaced all but one motor mount. The noise is still there. I recently got 4 new tires and replaced the passenger side wheel hub assembly (I am about to do the same to the driver side).

    Thoughts? Thanks in advance.

How are the end links on your suspension?

They seem to be in good shape. Could a worn CV joint present like this?

Are the fitting-kit pieces (the spring clips that sit in the caliper brackets and take the pad ears) installed the right way? They're not all four identical, if I remember right. On each side of the car should be one of each kind, with the springier one pushing the pad in the direction of forward car travel.

Possibly. A "bad" CV joint often has rhythmic popping sounds - only on turns under load.

What can also happen is minor wear between the splines on the axle and the splines in the hub. A "hard" decel to-from accel shift can cause the axle to move slightly in the hub with a single metallic pop. If that's the cause then I usually pack the splines with heavy grease and retorque the axle nut.
