I was curious if anyone had played around with a way to rig a regular Sirius receiver, like a Starmate for example, in to the MFD's SAT1 function. I haven't taken one apart, but it seems like you should be able run a regular low profile antenna to a regular receiver, and patch the text and navigation controls from the regular receiver to the MFD (granted, with some rewiring, soldering, etc). What am I missing here that makes the 'factory' kits $250 - $450?

I just find the whole suction-cup-on-the-window thing or dashboard velcro to be an inelegant solution. I have a couple of old tuners laying around so I thought I'd see if I could run it through the MFD, despite the 10 char limit. More of a customization experiment than anything else.
