One rather expensive switch has been to install Ecomfort mattresses in one of their resort locations. The mattresses themselves are made by Anatomic Global from a "plant-based memory foam" and are topped with a bamboo fabric cover. They also are manufactured in a zero-emissions chamber. The program will start in their Great Escape Theme Park and Water Resort Lodge in Lake George, NY with 450 new mattresses in over 200 rooms. Throughout their resorts, the Six Flags company is also turning down thermostats, utilizing a towel reuse program (typical of many hotels these days), as well as using green cleaning products in all rooms. Here's a fun fact: all "silverware" in rooms is made from corn-based materials which are biodegradable. This includes switching diesel-powered trains at four of their parks over to used veggie oil produced in the kitchens. They are also switching out older vehicles for newer, fuel-efficient models. In addition, LED lamps and lights are lighting all 20 of the parks. The Great Escape location is also an EPA Green Power Partner for its choice to purchase New York State wind energy. Six Flags has also partnered with Perf Go Green to fill every trash can with a biodegradable bag instead of the plastic version. Working with Coca Cola, over 3,000 recycling bins are located throughout the park to collect paper, glass, plastic and aluminum plans.Water saving faucets are used in all bathrooms and low-water plants are used throughout the park to save water. There are also plans for potentially installing solar arrays at the theme parks but nothing official is in the works. Also, no word yet on whether the rollercoasters themselves will be powered with alternative fuels or energy. Six Flags Inc currently has 20 locations throughout the United States, Mexico and Canada and plans to expand to locations in Qatar and Dubai. :Six Flags
