Car was sitting 5 days, had to hold fob to button to start car. It's a 2011 Prius 2 with 11k miles. After I did that it now starts normally, what happened?
Possibly the battery in the fob needs replaced. Even with little miles the remote battery could have issues
Aye, I've had customers who went through alarm remote batteries fast because the buttons were being pushed while the remote was in their pockets.
There is something in the Owner's Manual about after 5 days the SKS system will shut down to conserve 12V battery drain. This sounds like what may have happened to you. After holding the fob to the button and restarting, this must have enabled the SKS system again.
It's the battery saving feature that shuts down the SKS. In normal operation, SKS sits there going "Hello?, Hello?, Hello?..." looking for any SKS key fobs. This takes a toll on the 12V battery, so SKS automatically shuts down after a few days of waiting. Tom
