I have an older 2007 Prius I rarely drive , I find if I don't start it at least once a week the small 12 volt will be dead. I just put a new 12 vold battery in and went out a week later and it was completely flat. There were no lights left on in the car. What should I do if I want to store this car without driving, should I disconnect the battery. Is it harmful to put one of those battery maintainers while the battery is connected to the car?
battery maintainer is the best thing you can do. that being said, a week for a new battery to drain is too quick, if it was fully charged before installation. there is some extra drain in the car electrics which should be tracked down. but if you don't want to go to the trouble, just get a good maintainer. any car driven that little should have one.
