Question on the smart key: I understand that it is passive (i.e. receive only mode) until it gets close enough to get a signal from the car. At this point it starts transmitting- so it can allow you to unlock the doors, start the engine, etc. How far away does it have to be to be in receive only mode? When at home, my key is about 10 feet from my car. It does not let me unlock the door when the key is that far away, so dare I ASSume it is receive only at that point? The reason for the question is battery life in the key..... Thanks, Mike G.
I forgot what the manual said but it did say how far to keep them away from the car. Sorry I don't have the page off hand.
