So far, I've had two colleagues buy Priuses in part due to my recommendation. After I got mine last year, they asked tentatively what it was like -- I told them to climb into the driver's seat and we'd go for a ride. Both were blown away, and -- as I mentioned -- subsequently bought Priuses. In addition, people stop and ask me about mine all the time -- how do I like it, how's the fuel mileage, how much did it cost... Anybody else selling Priuses?
I've been referring to myself as "Toyota's lowest-paid salesman" at the car shows and energy fests for a while now. It's probably got more than a grain of truth in it, too. . _H*
I'd give myself half-credit for one sale: A good friend, who is both an engineer (retired) and a longtime Toyota fanatic decided to trade in his Camry after 10 years of ownership (yup--that's not a typo). He kept saying he'd buy a hybrid Camry, but after talking to me, he decided to check out the Prius as well. After test driving the Prius, he agreed with me that while the hybrid Camry is a conventional car with an add-on hybrid feature (seriously compromising the trunk space), the Prius is specifically engineered as a hybrid. Still, he waited until I had owned my car for more than two months. When I reported that I still liked my car (I almost said "loved," but I've got to keep cars in perspective), he took the plunge, buying a Package 2 Prius on the last day of last month. So, I guess my enthusiasm helped him make his decision. --Joe P.S. I am decidedly NOT an engineer.
countless. when asked how many times they used the "well one of our best techs has his wife driving one" line... DH says "enough. so many that i don't wanna think about it anymore!"
