There is a thread in accessories forum, but no real answer. Space is limited in 2016 compare to Gen 2. There was a trash box but not in the new model. I was looking at this on Amazon: Carmate Nz512 Japan CAR Toyota Prius Door Pocket Portable Compact Waste Basket Garbage Can Trash but pretty sure it won't fit Gen 4. Does anybody know about similar solutions for the new Prius? Door pocket seems to be the only possible place.

I'm curious. What "trash" are people talking about... and do you leave it in your car? Gum wrapper? Coffee cup? Candy bar wrapper? Kleenex? Big Mac box? Pizza crust? In my area, the thugs and creeps just throw it out the window.
No convenient place to place a bag, holder, trash can, etc in my CMax so I use the front door map pockets for paper and plastic refuse since I quit carrying actual maps years ago. I've thought about lining the pocket with a plastic bag but haven't. I used a small collapsable trash can similar in design to a slinky toy in my Gen3 and placed it in the cubby area underneath the flying bridge.
I bought these from Buyee in Japan. Custom trash containers for 2016 Prius. Now I see they are available on eBay.

Yes. They tuck into the door pockets in the extreme forward corner. They mushroom over the edge so they are fairly big.

Similar I'm sure, but these are custom molded to fit in the triangular corner of the door pocket. Left and right are different to match the different doors.
I found some Gen 3 boxes from Japan on eBay, but not for Gen 4. How did you buy them from Buyee? I never used this site. How much are they, btw?

I could not find it on Japanese site either. Good to know such things exist. I guess I'll just wait till they are on Amazon. I found a few trash boxes on Amazon. But after finding a container with corresponding dimensions, I went to the car to measure, and realized none of them would fit. If there were not just 2 but 4 cup holders as I had on Gen 2, then the generic trash box could be used in one of those (of course in Gen 2 I had a dedicated trash box for that matter). But to fit in the door it must be custom made for that model.

How much "trash" can you fit in those things... a couple gum wrappers? Nobody has given an example of what kind of "trash" you are accumulating in your car. What do you carry in your car that becomes "trash?" I've never had any "trash" in my car, except for the occasional fast-food bag, and that gets tossed within 10 minutes as soon as I'm done eating. I don't want to fill up little "trash cans" with "trash"', and then leave that "trash" in the car.... So what kind of "trash" are you talking about??? (And don't tell me you're leaving gross snotty Kleenex in your car! )
So I did order the boxes from Japan. They should arrive within 10 days. Expensive but worth it in my view. The strange thing is that first I could not find them on eBay, then after using 'ZVW50' I found them. Later they would show up even when I searched for 'Prius Trash Box', but after I ordered the boxes, they don't show up again!
