    From the article:
"There is no word on plans to commercialize the car."

The idea of a solar charged car has been discussed many times. It isn't practical. The sun only provides 1 kw per sq meter of sunlight. There isn't enough area to collect enough "direct" sunlight on a sunny day to make a car go more than a couple of miles in a day. That math isn't going to change.

It is far far better to spend your solar cell dollars on an array that is optimally tilted towards the sun and will last for 20-30 years. On a car the same solar cells won't collect as much sunlight, is extra weight for the car and may end up in a crash and will certainly be retired early than a roof mounted installation.

i t didn't say how long it took to charge the battery. did i miss it? great idea, glad to see they're working on stuff like this, even if it's a ways off. if i could park at work for 9 hours, and drive home 8 miles without plugging in? that would be sweet!
