hello all, i have had my prius IV with solar roof for a few weeks and when the roof is open and i go over any bumps or rough roads it rattles and the amount of noise varies depending on the position of the roof. has anyone else experienced this with their roof thanks
I notice it sometimes, mostly when the roof is in the 'in-between' position - i.e. not fully open: it takes three presses of the open switch to get it to open all the way, first is tilt, second is mostly-open, third is fully-open. Usually I can't hear it over the radio anyway, so it doesn't bother me.
thanks for the replies. unfortunately my rattle is really loud. looks like ill be taking it back to have the dealer look at it.
Yes. Get the rattle. Between the wind deflector and the roof itself, there's of lot of glass with just a few connecting points and lot of leverage.
My 2010 does this, however only at specific temperatures when opened at the default stop position. The dealer couldn't reproduce it, though made a minor adjustment. Noise still happens on occasion, but not enough to warrant fighting w/ the service dept over.
Don't open the solar roof if it rattles! Then it won't rattle. Haven't heard a rattle in our solar roof, yet. Maybe I haven't used it enough? Do you drive on rough roads a lot, or are you going at a certain speed when you notice the noise? How many miles on your Prius? This isn't good news for anyone that doesn't like rattles. Maine's roads aren't what I would consider very smooth in most places, so I guess I'll be finding out soon?
I use mine often and have never experienced any rattles in any position. I only hope this reply helps you in terms of making you all the more certain that you have an issue that should be resolved, and not accepted as the norm for your Prius. Roland
I have heard some jiggling going on up there but I know it wont be possible or damn hard to not have any rattles with it. Turn up the tunes a bit louder and you wont hear anything else Mike
I notice a rattle from somewhere aft in the car when driving over rough roads. I supposed it to be something to do with the hatchback, since I didn't notice anything associated with the panel that would move. Next time we go over a rough road I'll try to pay closer attention.
