i've seen someone buying them for 650$ and the price that includes a new replacement cat with warranty check lights free with labor replacing them included in the price, is this worth it and what negative impacts does it have on the car?
Depending on which replacement cat is installed, the vehicle may not pass California emissions. If you're thinking of moving or selling it to somebody moving west that could have implications. Also consider: what is your recourse if the "lights free" part doesn't come to pass? is this somebody operating from a fixed address?
on the plus side, if you sell it before it gets stolen, the replacement may not be attractive to thieves.
