For those who follow and are concerned about such things, my son returned safe from Iraq yesterday. He arrived back at Camp Lejuene around noon. His fiance' was present to greet him. He did indeed sign up for an extended 2 year tour and may have to go back. He is hoping for an assignment in training at Quantico. He did get into some "trouble" over there (stupidity abounds in 21 year olds) and was not allowed to sign up for 4, did not get any bonus for re-upping, and lost the ability to be promoted upon return as he would have. Oh, and if you thought things have not changed, the stupid thing he did (involved alcohol) was when he was on temporary assignment at Abu-Gahrib, and the army KICKED HIM OUT and sent him back to Camp India saying to his Marine commander...thanks but no thanks! Ahhhh, well, anyway......I'm glad he is back.
Regardless of anyone's position on the war, my own included, I am very happy to hear your son returned home in one piece. I sincerely hope he does not wind up back in Iraq, but that's just me. Welcome home to him!
glad to hear of another one of our promising young citizens coming home safely. your son, while able to get into trouble anywhere as we see is a brave young man and i know you're very proud of him.

<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE(ZenCruiser @ Feb 21 2007, 10:27 AM) </div> Glad he's back, just like 99.99% of all the soldiers that have gone to Iraq.
Congratulations to you and your family for your son's safe return! I'll keep good thoughts that when he goes back, he ends up at Quantico.
My position on the war is well known. I am very glad to hear your son is back safe, and I hope he does not have to go back there. I wish him all the best for the future.
From a very old Soldier, please send my highest regards and a hearty helping of my thanks and the thanks of a greatful nation for his service!
The sacrifice of our people in service deserves more honor then given. They have proven to continuously do their best in a hard situation and have my deepest respect. Our differences on the value, strategy and execution of this war should in no way diminish the enlisted persons sacrifice but should be seen as a sign of democracy. That your son is willing to defend that is great! I hope he learned form his experiences and is given a second chance (hopefully outside of Iraq or Afghanistan)
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE(Schmika @ Feb 21 2007, 10:18 AM) </div> Thank God that is great news! Soon the demoncratically controlled congress will start their "Slow Bleed" of the military forces over their and the story could have been quite different. Wildkow p.s. Prior to the possiblity of his return, I hope the conflict is ended before the left has a chance to implement the "Slow Bleeding" death of our armed forces, that they so sincerely support, over there.
Please give him a well deserved pat on the back for me too! Why don't you set up another account on PC under an assumed moniker and have him sit at the computer and tell us his experiences first hand while they are fresh in his mind? I don't care about his slant, just his personal experiences.
