I went from a 2010 Prius III to a 2013 Prius Four. The sound system in my 2010 was great, the 2013 has JBL GreenEdgespeakers with amplifier - it sucks. Sounds muffled and tinny. Love the car but hate the sound system!
You have EQ adjustments in audio setup, they are remembered for each audio source. The JBL system doesn't reveal its stuff till you crank the volume way up, then its clearly a huge improvement. If you're not someone who likes to listen loud, you won't benefit much from the system. I'm someone who believes that the tweeters positioned on the dash facing the windshield is a big impediment to clear and accurate sound and accurate imaging, but there's nothing to be done about that.
