SpaceX Pad Abort Test: I never did understand why there was one escape tower and a re-entry booster in the Mercury/Gemini/Apollo capsule days. A rocket strong enough to lift the capsule in a 1G environment could easily handle a de-orbit burn. SpaceX has solved the problem. Bob Wilson
