I thought I saw a post recently where a plug-in owner stored his compact spare tire/wheel in the small cargo area with the lid, sticking out. I'm curious now, would a regular Prius spare tire/wheel fit in that cargo area somehow? Does anyone have a photo? I'd rather not strap it down in the main cargo area or store it behind one of the front seats. (I haven't bought a spare yet)
I recently purchased the thin temporary tire. I believe it's a 135x80x16 tire on a 4" (?) wide rim. I tried it Sunday, it won't fix due to the extreme offset of the wheel. I'll carry it in a plastic bag in the rear. Only the tire portion will fit.
i just tried it. the approx. 25" compact spare sticks up about 13" above the carpet. and it scrapes a bit withwise as you slide it down. a full size will not fit because the width is closer to 7".
