Not sure what the problem is. I replaced my radio with a new unit and utilized the correct aftermarket harness. For whatever reason every speaker works except the driver side door. Does anyone know if there is a specific color wire in the harness for the driver side door? I know you will ask was it working before I put in the new unit and I honestly can say I never paid close attention because the audio was so poor. Now I noticed it with the increased amplification with the new unit. I did soldering on every wire very carefully so I don’t think the problem is there, plus I would imagine the front driver side speaker is also the same wire as the door? I could be wrong there. Wish I had a spare speaker to take off door panel and test the connection, any suggestions?
Wires are soldered together so would have to take out dash again to get to harness and cut connections. Not sure if that’s what you mean by switching wires. I’m thinking I could take off both door panels and switch speakers maybe? I honestly don’t believe it can be a connection with the harness. I guess it’s possible harness could be bad though.
Yes the dash speaker is working on that side. The driver side door is only speaker not working in the vehicle.
If there is a break somewhere in the line could I use regular +\- speaker wire and route that to the radio?
Then it's not your solder job or adapter harness. Check wiring continuity from the dash speaker to the door speaker. If all is good then it's likely the door speaker.
They use metric wire gauge but 20 gauge will work if you didn't add an amp. Remember larger is OK, smaller is not...and you should solder in (or pigtail the two going to the door only) at the blocking diode on the dash speaker...if that's what it is. Ring it out first to make sure. The speaker is still the weakest link though, because it's just paper cone junk.
Thank you for that information! If I can ask how you came to that conclusion? I am assuming they share the same circuit?
OK-I started to dig around and found something on my floorboard. I recently had remote start installed and they were obviously digging around on driver side panels. Please see the attached photo, I have no idea what this connector is or where it belongs.
Don't know about the installers leftovers, but it's not the wire going to your door speaker. If you look back at page 2, you see how the dash and door appear to be wired in parallel. 2 wires are soldered to "each" terminal on the dash speaker/diode. One each from the HU and one each going to the door. Correction on earlier, there are two connectors between...L11 and OL2...with the respective pin numbers per both as identified on page 2 and 10 of the file. I believe one is the door plug, don't know where the other is.
Important...Power down and pull your negative battery terminal before unplugging anything. As to your question about my conclusion, I'm avionics/electrical plus I had my 2010 II system totally replaced and customized. Left "old" wiring in place to restore to factory before selling...which I did. Click on my name and look at my media.
