http://pressroom.toyota.com/pr/tms/document/GlobalQuality.pdf A long time advocate of ISO-9000:1994, this is an excellent start. The embedded organizational chart and charter shows a clear and unambiguous roadmap. This is not 'eyewash,' it is a big deal. Things won't turn around instantly although I've been impressed with Toyota's fleet footwork. Rather, this casts the rudder in a new direction that I throughly approve. Dang, I might have to sell our 2010 in a couple of years ... the 2012-13 Prius will be awesome. Bob Wilson
I agree that it sounds good. I think it will make a difference in American-made Toyotas. I think American workers can make just as good a car as Japanese workers. Not so sure about American manufacturing managers- it's not something we have been training people to be. Manufacturing derivatives and ways to destroy NATO allies (like Greece), yes. Then again, OJT is probably better anyway.
