So the last jacquasse who worked on this car at the dealership...ok lets start at the beginning....

when installing the cable back into the lever, one is SUPPOSED TO strip back the spring to reveal the cable about a half inch...

apparently that takes either the strength of a thousand suns OR a special reverse pliers to push back the very taut expansion spring( not a compression spring either)

so the last guy just rammed the whole spring and wire into the u shaped channel on the lever.

IS there such a thng as a special tool for this? I've never seen this b4. I had drums on my 79 vette if memory serves and yes, i know they are different, but i expected better engineering.

by the by, im 230 lbs and am known for my hand strength but this is a straight up pisser. thoughts???

If you loosen off the adjuster nut on the cable at the parking brake pedal, under the dash, would that give enough slack? Measure where the nut was before loosening, so you can just return it to that position.

Attached are a couple of pdf excerpts from 2nd gen repair manual, but I wonder: step 41 of the parking brake cable removal instruction is "remove steering column assembly"...o_O:eek::ROFLMAO::cry:
