I tried searching but did not get any results.... Anyone know the torque specs for the four bolts that hold the spoiler to the lift gate?
None given in the service manual. I think it falls back to standard torque specs given for general fasteners. There is a torque spec for the rear wiper assy (49 in lbs). If you are concerned about it coming loose, you could use some locking compound on the threads.
@_@ wow conversion owns me. Would that be roughly 4ft-lbs? (my torque wrench doesnt give inches) I dont want it to come loose but the spoiler is only plastic. I can foresee it ripping out with slight over torquing
Yes, slightly over 4 ft lbs. Its a very low torque. I actually have a torque wrench that reads in lbs - I use it to torque transmission pan gasket(s) on other vehicles. Remember that torque is for the wiper assy bolts, not the 4 bolts that hold the spoiler. I don't see any torque given for those bolts.
i guess what I can do is loosen a tight bolt with the torque wrench and see how much torque it takes. The wrench is the spring type that bends, not the type that you pre-set. Granted it is not the best way but it will give me a ballpark idea
ok after trying the torque wrench it is hard to get a reading at all. The bolts are just "snug", it takes no effort_at_all to loosen them and I dont even think it is 1ft-lb of torque. Amazing that only these 4 bolts hold the piece on.
