I am just about to replace my steering wheel but have a question. In stead of removing the battery terminal as many suggested, can I just remove the SRS airbag fuse? If I remove the fuse and assume that the airbag won't pop up while I am messing with the steering harness, then the question is if the SRS fuse blew, would the airbag still be functioning? It is on page 416 of the manual and the fuse location is #28. Thanks, PS. If I have to remove the battery terminal, I will try not to forget and close the trunk!! PS2. I will try to remove that fuse and see if there is any warning light comes on. PS3. I already heard that "Just to be safe, remove the battery connector".
If anyone suggests doing anything but what the manual suggests, they are opening themselves up for a lawsuit. Follow the manual.
If it was me I'd pull the battery cable and drape a towel or blanket over the latch mechanism. I'm not quite prepared for this sort of thing though. W
My custom steering wheel is on the way. I don't think I will be brave enough to do without removing the battery cable. In fact, I will put on a protection glasses too. Not sure what do I have to set or reset after the battery cable is disconnected though.
