    Hi all,
I'm working on getting snow tires/steel rims for the winter for my 2012 prius. I know you have to enter the RFID of the sensors into the car's computer. But is there something you need to do to the sensors themselves to start them sending the pressure transmissions ? Thanks for any help

We use summer tires and separate winter tires [with studs].

Only our summer tires have the sensors in them.

I believe the sensors send once the wheels start moving.

    ForestBeekeeper,
Tirerack has a price of $220 for a set of 4 TPMS. Our local Advanced Auto Parts has the dorman for $92. I read somewhere in this forum that someone had gotten the Tirerack TPMS to work after they had entered the correct RFID number in the car computer. They had to go to a dealer since Tirerack had written the wrong RFID number on the receipt they sent them.
    Stream,
Wow, that PDF is very interesting. If I read that correctly, you don't need the scan tool to tell the computer the RFID tags. This is the same procedure that Chevy uses on their cars when you put a new TPMS valve stem on their cars. I remember reading that the American car companies had a procedure for the car to learn new TPMS RFID without the need of a scan tool and the Asian car companies required a scan tool. I wonder if Toyota adopted this procedure and
it is not widely known. Anyone try this procedure on their 2010 prius ?
