I have read all the BP press interview transcripts for the whole event. Most of the reporter's questions have been unusually dull and thoughtless. However, the last briefing had a really good pair of questions from Joel Achenbach (Washington Post).
Question 1-Robert Gibbs stated that without Washington pressure, BP would have been less responsive to the spill. What is BPs position? BP handled that correctly by stating that those type of questions will not be responded to till official statements and investigations are completed. I liked his asking a true reporters question. Way too few of those.

Question 2-When did BP start the development of the (successful) three stack cap? Answer-24 April.

Wow, that was only three days after the Deepwater Horizon sank. Between the lines, it really indicates that the first attempts to stop the leak were basically known to be more PR maneuvers than anything else. It also makes it clear that BP was moving into high gear (very serious $$$$) right away. Now one "good" does not make up for 11 deaths, so this is not a pat on the back for the BP management. It does shows that the core effort to stop the leak was not getting any media coverage while the "quick" efforts were big media items.
