Recently purchased a 2010 Prius Five with 47K miles. Occasionally when I start the thing up a buzzing noise, somewhat loud but constant, will go on for about 5 - 10 minutes. If I turn the car off and back on again before it cycles the noise will stop. I am fairly certain this is common but wondering if anyone can give me insight as to what exactly is going on when this occurs? Thanks everyone.
shut the a/c off to confirm, it's usually a constant noise. there's a buzzing when you open the drivers door, and when you step on the brake, but it should only last 5 or 10 seconds.
That's what it is for me, although definitely longer than just when its first fired up. Like the OP said, it goes on for several minutes. However, turning the AC off immediately stops the noise so its clearly related.
