Anyone with a 22 Prius notice a strange noise going into reverse. It almost sounds like a vacuum leak, sort of high pitched like wind rushing? Just wondering. I own a 2017 Prius and no such noise. Car is 2 weeks old. Thanks. I know there aren't too many 22's out there, at least in the U.S.
Is it possibly the back up warning sound (it is a pretty strange sound, but only there if the car is in EV mode (ICE not running))? Sounds like some sort of space ship sci fi sound.
My 2022 xle “safety sounds” are significantly louder than my 2012 Prius C was. Guess too many people were getting run over!
In section 1-4 it mentions it, but I couldn’t find any place else with a quick look and it doesn’t mention the increase in volume (at least I couldn’t find it if it does). When I’m pulling in and out of my driveway the volume level change is really noticeable!
Thanks all. Learn something every day. I had no idea on my 2017 that when I go forward it was for that purpose. No sound in reverse, at least that I could hear over the back up beeper. Anything to help pedestrians avoid injury, at least those without headphones on.
My ‘22 beeps once when I put it in reverse. I can’t remember if I set it that way under the customization settings or used Carista. Speaking of learning something new, just today I realized that one of the beeps I heard as I was backing out of the garage was a single beep when the backseat seat belt light lit up with no one in them! Not sure if that is what it is supposed to do or not, but one beep doesn’t really matter in the grand scheme of things.
