Strange noise

    Has anyone noticed a weird metallic rattling noise coming from the transmission when switched to N with the engine running and the car is stationary? Almost like the gears are rattling inside while in N position. I took it to the dealer and their Prius guru said this is normal characteristic of eCVT....

    If that's indeed a "normal characteristic," I'd guess it occurs for the much same reason the my old 3-speed Sturmey-Archer bicycle hub rattles when there's zero torque on its planetary gear system.

    Is it continuous or only when switched?

    It is continuous while the ICU is running and the car is stationary in N. Does not happen is the car is in motion
