Hello, thanks for checking out this post. I purchased a used 2010 prius III last week and noticed it has a quirk. When I turn the volume up or down considerably (like when going from volume 10-20 for example) the screen opens and ejects the navigation disk. I have to pull the navigation disk out prior to putting it back in. Then I have to turn the volume up or down to make the screen go back to the normal position. Pressing the close button will not work, only the volume dial with close it. This will happen many times in one drive, if the volume goes up or down the console opens. When closed the navigation system works well, the maps are read without issue. If it might be relevant I have no CDs in the disk changer. Aux cable works fine. Also, when I start the car the screen says, "system loading, do not power off car" or something similar to that. This happens 95% of the time that I start the car, not every single time. Any idea what this could be? And if so how much would it cost to fix? It is a minor annoyance that I could see turning into a major annoyance down the road.
First thing I would do after reading the manual would be check in morning with a voltage meter to insure your 12V is putting out over 12.1 volts. If lower reading this may be the issue if in fact you have a issue? Hal
I am going to work on figuring out how to check the battery. In the meantime I figured out that if I turn the volume up and down with the steering wheel control it does not cause the same problem to occur.
