One of the four bolts that mount the Rear Hub was seized. I eventually got it out, but the threads in the hole are damaged. (I have a picture but can't figure out how to post it.)

I am guessing I need to drill out the hole and then tap it for the next size up, and I may have to drill out the matching hole in the hub that the bolt passes through.

I just wanted to confirm if this is the right approach. (I suspect heli-coils, EZ lok, time-serts, etc. are not appropriate here but I don't know for sure.)

I believe the bolt is Toyota 90119-A0350 but I don't know what size/thread pitch it is, so I don't know what size to go up to. The head is marked "11". I also don't know where to source a bolt "the next size up".

    Thanks.

Yes or you could put a gila coil or various and sundry type of thread repair kit in there if you desire It's not mission critical like a spark plug hole but you know people want to do certain things sometimes reaming the hole and applying a bolt with a nut on the back as long as there's clearance nobody would care It's not going to be revisited again probably in the cars grand scheme of things. In an emergency and a height of complete laziness or whatever You could probably leave the one bolt off until you have time to mull it out in your head or what have you It certainly not going to come flying apart but you know.

I'd probably look at Time-Serts or Heli-Coils, and keep using the original size of bolt. Gila coils might be frowned on by the ASPCA.

Great idea - thanks. I need to check and see if there is access to the backside. If not then do you think moving up 1 bolt size and tapping?

Doesn't matter how you do it You should be able to clean up the stud you have sitting looking at you a little bit they make a die that does that sort of thing and then they make nuts that will do what we talked about before this is a non-critical area to be honest about it so pick your poison to me I would be looking the hard nut with the funny threads cut in the nut to deal with the fubar threads sticking out staring at me. And be finished with it but yes you can do all of the things talked about here anyway you like whatever is easier for you makes you feel better however you look at it not an issue that nut bolt stud whatever. That will never be under any kind of load or anything like that that's going to come flying apart or any of that you'll be out of the car before this ever gets thought about again. And good luck.

First step would be to try to clean up the damaged threads with the same sized tap.

After that, I would personally try the helicoil approach - you can get off-brand kits for not too much money.

Heck, even the on-brand kits aren't too much money.

Post 2 would be the easiest, if doable.

It might work on the aft two bolts. I don't think there is good access to the back side of the forward two.
