I just removed my cabin filter for the first time in 16K miles (7 months). The filter wasnt just full of junk, it also seem to have a lot of foam type material. It looked like sound deadening material/insulation was broken into multiple pieces and onto the cabin filter. Have you guys had that problem? If so, where is the foam coming from? Thanks
Debris in the cabin filter can be an indication of rodent activity... but it may also just have been left over from manufacture.
You will always get leaves and stuff due to the modern design, not sure where the soft foam came from through. There was a lot of it
Do a search as there's another post on here where someone had similar stuff in their filter also and they posted pictures. Now a few replies indicated that it looked like rodent activity and it looked like that to me too. See if you can find that post and check out the pictures. They may look like what you found. In balance I'll tell you my experience - I've had my 2010 Prius for 4 months now and have covered 12k miles. I took the cabin filter out and it wasn't full of anything other than a slight amount of dirt/grime in the filter itself.
