I have P0A78 & P0A94. What would I look for on a scanner to know if it could read the subcodes? Hoping for something on Amazon for under $200. Posted via the PriusChat mobile app.
Not aware of a standalone toyota hybrid OBD2 scanner that can supply INFs (subcodes) for under 200. If you do find such a device please post the make and model in this thread so that others have the option to purchase as well.
I seem to remember the list of PIDs that vincent1449p reverse-engineered for Gen 1 included where the HV ECU inf codes were stored, so they could be programmed in to an app like Torque, or as XGAUGEs in a ScanGauge, and used to read the codes. The same would work if the corresponding info is in the Gen 2 PID lists floating around. I haven't checked that.
If purchasing, you would look for mention of 'detail code', INF, subcode. If you already have an OBD2 scanner, then look for the above terminology, or possibly a "snow flake", a flower, or smoke cloud icons within the user interface or near the DTC displayed. After doing a quick search using the search feature here on PriusChat, I found this thread : Which mentions using Autel Elite scanner and INFs.
