    Although we are cautioned to doubt that anyone would put 200 tons of gold on a single ship. I mean seriously - who trusts a Captain that much?

    When Spanish were moving a lot of Latin America's silver they would put about 50 tons on each. More than I might have guessed as those wooden ships seemed to magically attract both shipworms and hurricanes.

    odyssey is a pretty successful salvager iirc. the gov gets 20%, 15.4m, but has to foot the 20m cost?
