hill, have you kept track of your average wait time at Superchargers? Would be interested to know if currently there are only a few pain points or if most places are getting full regularly?
It's a case sometimes of "feast or famine" For example here - we had our choice ... central Valley - 10am weekend - 1 of any 18 stalls ... but in San Fran? Right next door to google? during early evening drivetime? In order to snag 1 of their 12 spots? 5 to 10 minute wait is typical .... Burbank is worst of all .... crowded .... lots of commerce in the area, media/network Studios, ETC. And they only have 8 stalls. It's improved a ton though, ever since they started punishing inconsiderate (typically local resident) owners - establishing a $$$ fee when they 'camp' ... basically use the charge stall as a parking space while they go out for a 2-hour dinner or show ... rather than just charge at home - which is maybe only a mile or 2 away from home. Clearing out these kinds of inconsiderate deadbeats has really sped things up. General rule is crowded population areas have potential for crowded stalls. BUT - after 10pm or before 5am? clear sailing - even in the most populated areas. .
This is useful information for planning future road trips. Or more accurately...dreaming about future road trips.
