I'm going to try and equate those numbers to grade points (GPA) ranging from 0.0 to 4.0. When I was in school, the grades were as such: 4.0 :: A+; 3.5 :: A; 3.1 :: A-; 3.0 :: B+; and so on Here are the numbers (I hope my math is correct) Toyota: 415 = 3.3 gpa = A Honda: 380 = 3.0 gpa = A- Nissan: 289 = 2.3 gpa = B DC: 199 = 1.6 gpa = D GM: 174 = 1.4 gpa = D Ford: 162 = 1.3 gpa = D Industry: 270 = 2.2 gpa = C Unless, of course, you would rather grade them in percentages: 90 - 100 = A; 80 - 90 = B; 70 - 80 = C; 60 - 70 = D; sub-60 = F. Now here are the grades: Toyota: 415 = 83% = B Honda: 380 = 76% = C Nissan: 289 = 58% = F DC: 199 = 40% = F GM: 174 = 35% = F Ford: 162 = 32% = F Industry: 270 = 54% = F
To resurrect an ancient thread... I came across this on TTAC (title should be self-explanatory): GM to Suppliers: Open Your Factories, Books If You Want Long-Term Business - The Truth About Cars Don't think the above is going to help w/their showing at Toyota, Honda have best supplier relations in U.S. - study - Yahoo Finance.
