SUV Sales continue to drop

An article on the tough times for SUV sales, both nationally and in Colorado.

My favorite bit of blinkered spin-doctorism:

Metro Denver Chevrolet dealers have seen truck and SUV sales drop 12.6 percent this year, while Chevy passenger car sales are up 5.3 percent, according to Dick Fleischman, president of Luby Chevrolet.

Record-high gasoline prices may have less to do with the change than does the slow economic recovery, particularly in Colorado.

"Our economy went into the downturn much later than the rest of the country, and we're coming out of the downturn much later than the rest of the country," Fleischman said.

Unh-huh. So why are the car sales up? And just over this year?

It's the gas prices, stupid. :cussing:
