Hey I recently bought a 2016 Prius Three touring trim with the standard 17in wheels. Im looking into replacing those with the OEM Toyota 10 Spoke 15in wheels. My question is, will I have any issues with the stock suspension? I assume the suspension sits a little higher versus the stock 15 suspension to accommodate the 17. So mostly cosmetics? Am I right in saying that? Also, anybody know if the OEM 10 Spoke are worth their price? Any good costco tires worth mentioning to maximize the mpg? Let me know if there's anything else I need to worry about. Thanks in advance.
There was a (long) recent thread about this exact issue, covering possible legal & insurance problems etc. I remember someone saying that the 17" equipped cars have a larger turning circle which could indicate that there is possibly either different suspension components or adjustments. I'd look up the recent thread.
Here is the thread: Anyone in the UK fancy swapping their 15" wheels for my 17" wheels...?! | PriusChat
Thanks for the link! The answer is still unclear but ive already asked my local toyota dealer about it... Still waiting on an answer.
Wheel/tire swaps between members are common on other forums. Finding someone local would eliminate expensive shipping for both parties. Typically the person with the more "valuable" combination should be receiving funds! Unless you're looking to keep the 17's.
I switch between stock (3rd gen) 17" rims/tires and 15" snow tires on steel Corolla rims every fall. No appreciable differences. BTW: if you check with a tire calculator or do the math yourself, you'll see the outside diameters of the 15" and 17" are virtually the same. The 17" are actually slightly smaller.
