Its official. The tax credit ends on Prius. Announced today on the KTLA website: http://ktla.trb.com/news/ktla-priustax,0,2...oll=ktla-news-1 Glad I took delivery of mine in 01/2006! (thanks to excellent advice found on priuschat!!!!)
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE(keqmoore @ Sep 20 2006, 01:32 PM) </div> Not quite. Starting for vehicles delivered on or after October 1 it gets cut in half, not ended. And this has been known since May (which was when they delivered the 60,000th hybrid).
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE(archermoo @ Sep 20 2006, 04:35 PM) </div> I still haven't seen anything that says the 2007 model Prius will be eligible for any credit at all.

Here's one informative link for the IRS tax credit information: http://www.irs.gov/newsroom/article/0,,id=157632,00.html Google to find other IRS information which actually list the qualifying vehicles. Toyota has not yet sent the required information to the IRS for the 2007's - possibly because the '07s are not on the market yet. NO... The TAX CREDIT does not "END." Just reduces to half after September 30th, and that remains in effect until March 31, 2007 after which it reduces to 1/4 th.
Just spoke with my dealer today, since I'm still waiting for my 06 Prius to get delivered. Apparently Toyota has put out a notice to accelerate the delivery of all Prius (or is that Priae?) on order so that they will meet the 30 September deadline. We'll see how effective they are at that.
