it was 21 years ago today that the Berlin Wall was opened after 28 years of dividing a city. about 23 years ago, this speech was made. Here's a short version of it.
Cost the American Taxpayer a doubling of the national debt to tear down that wall, too bad a cheaper way wasn't thought of by that guy, could be the onset of Alzheimer got in the way.
i figured you'd be the one to bring politics into this. i posted this as a historical event that ushered in the fall of communism and reunited Germany. I am disappointed that we can't find some common ground in that.
Only common ground is the cost, it was way too expensive and ushered in Russian mafia and crime, and left the US with a massive debt, not exactly a lot of good in the long run. Remember, I'm concerned with the right kind of spending and the results for Americans, not foreign countries.
