Yes - unlike criminal jury trials requiring 100% unanimously - civil trials (in calif) are decided by percentage of jury voters. That's fair because it's easier for the plaintiff to win. Instead of beyond a reasonable doubt (ie; it's not reasonable that the sun won't rise tomorrow - because a death star may theoretically blow up the sun) - in a civil trial - it's more likely you believe one view or the other - tipping that scale - 51%. .
