My Prius was supposed to be here on July 18th. Now it may not be here until August 12th. Siiiigh. The folks buying my current car are starting to get really pissed off.
That is not some trucker's fault, except in the general sense that the US moves too many goods by truck instead of rail, thereby driving up demand for fuel and thus the demand for Priuses.
The dealership said there's a truckers strike that's backing up shipping. So, if it's not their fault, then pay them so I can get my car!
Unfortunately, the intermodal system is pretty full right now too, and with the weak dollar limiting imports, there is a problem getting the boxes back from the posts for the exporters, who are doing quite well. Which is more than anyone ever wanted to know about the topic!
That's what they're telling the dealership. They told me today they don't believe it, either. funny thing, today they're saying it could be here this week. I can believe that because I just got my VIN #! My dealership is giving me a loaner so I can sell my current car now. they've been really good and apologetic about the situation.
My Prius was promised to be here within 3-6 weeks. It came in 3. Doesn't seem to be affected by any strike.
The strike is supposedly in Japan, not here. There's no trucker's strike here, so me being in CA shouldn't make any difference if there truly were a trucker's strike in Japan. But you have a VIN now, so it's a moot point. Once I got my VIN I had my car within a week and a half.
Maybe it's a dockers uninion strike. Whatever, either way I'm stuck in the Scion (which isn't as bad as I imagined). Thankfully my dealership has been really, really cool about this. They even didn't give me hell last night when I declined their extended warranty. They presented me with a deal (they offered to match the priuschat deal) and when I declined they just said, "Alrighty!" And moved along. I want my car!
