It's official: General Motors is out of the minivan business. At first glance, this news seems a tad incongruous. After all, GM continues to churn out Pontiac Montanas and Chevrolet Uplanders (formerly known as the Venture). Just don't call them "minivans," though. In Canada, GM has re-labelled these vehicles as "mid-vans." Richard James, of GM Canada, admits the word minivan is under the ban because of the stigma associated with this term (i.e., that a minivan is synonymous with suburban surrender). Has GM got much of the minvan market these days? I figured Honda and Ford had the major pieces of the pie.
