Perhaps I simply do not understand how to use the built-in multi-quote but I get a horrible mess each time I try it. What I want: Select text, and click on multi-quote The software grabs the selected text and the *correct* poster, and puts it into a reply field. Each additional selection->quote is sequentially inserted with one line of white space in between. Thanks! Oh, and please, please PLEASE get rid of the super annoying auto link that follows each quote
You don't select text. You quote posts, not sentences. So if you want to quote something in post A and post D just hit the "+Quote" button until you get to the bottom. If you want to split it into sentences, just copy the header part of the quote, and put in the end quote format manually. perhaps... how unfortunate... We can't all have everything we want... The link takes you to the post you quoted, it is like a reference. But if you don't want it, then remove the details.
Very true, but I'm only asking for what I want; everybody else can start their own thread Thanks for the tutorial. Does hitting the +quote button repeatedly step through the post quote by quote ?
By playing around with it a bit I can make it work, sort of as described above. BUT.....I find it a tremendous pain that you can't abort a quoted reply once you have started it. There should be a "cancel" button.
Which is "select all" and delete editor commands. Kind of has the same effect, I guess but I still think a "cancel" button would be WAY more useful to WAY more users. I think it is a major pain in the nice person to have an abandoned reply pop up again the next time you reply in that thread.
