http://www.nytimes.com/2007/02/04/washingt...artner=homepage from $207,000,000,000 of taxpayer money in 2000 to $400,000,000,000 today, no oversight, no competition, lots of conflict of interest and plenty of overtime on the taxpayer's dime, contractors are running D.C. making the contractors best at selling very very rich. Thanks George!
Hmmm. Wasn't outsourcing government services supposed to save money? Our mayor wants to do away with certain city departments and have independent outside contractors do the work the city used to do. I'm thinking....NOT.
Yet another reason for self-governance and putting an end to lobbyists and corporate campaign funding. Each canidate should get $20,000 to fund their campaign and let the best man win!
Outsourcing can be a very cost effective measure... assuming you have a market with reasonable competition and open bids for jobs. awarding no-bid contracts to your favorite company, however, is sure to up the cost of any project. In any environment where payment is guaranteed and contracts are awarded based on personal feeling and not on merit or cost you'll see costs skyrocket while quality and on time delivering drop.
