Electric makes a lot of sense for ambulances, but it looks like the EMTs are going to be a little stiff & sore from trying to care for patients during transport in those little things. Unless they have some sort of spell like Hermione Granger's handbag.
+1 BEV Ambulances make all kinds of sense where NHS (and other things) drive petrol prices well above 5USD per gallon. The population densities are a little different too and.....hey. NHS. They actually have more of an incentive to be profitable than our USPS....but not MUCH more. Our USPS is tinkering with BEVs too.....
NHS doesn't take a one size fits all approach to ambulances. In metro areas with dense traffic, they have EMTs on motorcycles to get to patients faster and start treatment. Many patients don't need a gurney to get to the hospital. Some calls, the patient doesn't need to go to the ER. Only kids and very short people will be laying down in this.
If I just have a broken finger, for example, I'm OK with riding on the back of a motorcycle to the hospital. Mike
If I just have a broken finger, I can get myself to the hospital. Or a friend can take me there if I wrecked my car in the process of breaking my finger.
