It doesn't apply to any Prius models but this video is from the local news here. Sorry free plug ITT. The 'pedal fix' ... Priority Toyota busy with recalls | wavy.com
Our local news also had a segment on this tonight where they showed a tech removing the accelerator assembly and inserting a little piece of metal into a slot on the side of the assembly...and that seemed to be it. Hard to imagine it's that simple...but who knows. Reliable Toyota begins process of repairing recalled gas pedals | KY3 News, Weather, Sports - Springfield, MO | Video
I saw a news report this morning on the Prius braking issue- and they combined it with some interview from Steve Wozniak. I do feel bad for Toyota- I'm sure they'll survive it just fine though.
According our techs there are several different sizes of metal plates which one is used depends on the accelerator pedal. The fix apparently will eliminate any chance of excessive friction causing the accelerator to be stuck.
I think this is one of the key efforts that need(ed) to be done right away. It's a week late but getting the info out to the local buying public is really really important. The local buyers have no relationship with Jim Lentz or Toyota Motor Sales but they do have a daily relationship with their local store if only through radio / TV / Newspaper. In the final analysis buyers decide to support Toyota when they agree to give business to their local stores.
Wow. Open up the pedal, insert a 5 cent piece of metal, button it up, done. "A horse, a horse, my kingdom for a horse!"
not surprised that the fix is easy and simple. its just a sticking pedal...we could do the "slip/stick" saying for WD 40 or duct tape.
