So I've casually been surfing the price of a used Tesla Model 3 with HW 4.0. In March 2024, Tesla replaced the earlier HW 3.0 with the faster and more capable HW 4.0. Although Tesla still maintains parallel versions of Full Self Driving, eventually the HW 3.0 version will become "End of Maintenance" and later "End of Life." It happens with cell phones too. My impression: ~$40k - new Model 3 (w/o subsidies) ~$32k - year old Model 3 with HW 4.0 ~$28k - year old Model 3 with HW 4.0 and salvage title Alabama may or may not permit registration of an out-of-State "Salvage Title" ~$18-22k - three year old Model 3 with HW 3.0 The clock is ticking and in two more years, the initial batch of three year leases will be up. Except for unusual circumstances, that is probably when I'll replace my perfectly fine, 2017 BMW i3-REx. Bob Wilson
