Toyota Prius Now Outsold By a Different Toyota Hybrid - Motor Trend Toyota's own hybrid models are eating away at Prius sales | Autoblog Prius Sales Are Down But Toyota Hybrids Are Far From Over
I actually looked at a Hycorolla yesterday, and I would not be surprised if the Prius drops into third place......
A couple weeks ago, I got to talk to the guy down the street who owns a Hycorolla. He said he loves it. Last week I walked all through the lot at our nearby Toyota dealership. The must have had 25-30 Rav4s. Not one single hybrid.
We don't have hybrids here either.... but for a different reason - they're all pre-sold/factory orders. There's a waiting list for the RAV4 Hybrid in Canada.
We're seriously considering a Rav4 hybrid or Rav4 Prime later this year for my wife. As the time gets closer, I'll get more serious about shopping. For now, I'd just like to have a good look at one.
Back when I started reading about hybrids, Toyota was claiming that Prius meant 'to come before". This is the year that the Prius was before. Hopefully The Prime is before fleet wide PHEVs and the eAWD is leading to fleet wide adoption. It will be interesting how Toyota morphs the Prius to be 'before' their normal cars get a new propulsion. While there are many choices, I favor a range extended BEV.
Help is on the way for those interested in Hybrid RAV4's Toyota's Georgetown plant starts rolling RAV4 Hybrids off assembly lines "By 2025, Toyota’s global goal is to offer an electrified option (hybrid, plug-in, fuel cell, battery) on all Toyota and Lexus models. TMMK ( Toyota Motor Manufacturing of Kentucky) is Toyota’s largest plant in the world with more than nine million square feet of floor space, more than 8,000 full-time team members, and represents a $7-billion investment." If anyone was ever traveling and was near the plant they offer free tours to the public during the day where you can actually see the cars being made!
