Just got home! I absolutely love it. I don't know how half the stuff works, but I love it. Pics to come!
Yay Captain! I bet it's a beauty! I love the black prii - that's my second color choice (red is my first).
Finally got the call yesterday. Prius is at the dealer (was supposed to come last week) and today it's having windows tinted. Maybe it'll be ready tomorrow if not certainly by Thursday. Been waiting since 5/11 when we got on the list. The next day the dealer had over 100 people on list and took no more names. Phew, glad I made it.
I am on order for a prius package 3 who knows when it will arrive. A dealer called me today wondering if I'd be interested in faster fullfillment since they can get cars but would have to pay about 1400 OVER MSRP to get the car. So looks like supply may not be the issue but overall greed by dealers/others to get over MSRP.
Congrats sorthund! Spidey - I think dealers that are pricing the cars over MSRP are full of it. But like a dealer in Nashville told me - there are people that will pay over MSRP so the dealers are going for it. I say more power to them - they are within their rights to price the cars however they see fit. But I'm within my rights to not purchase from them.
I agree I almost laughed over the phone, problem is I am trying to get a replacement for a different car that was totaled last week I figured she thought I was desperate enough to pay the price.
Hello all of you waiting for your new prius. I put $500 down a new prius on May 22nd. I asked for first color red, second color blue and third color grey, with a #5 package. I told him I would take any package other than a base model. The salesman told me it would be between 6 to 8 weeks. He called me on June 7th and told me he had a red #6 on the boat and he asked if I was interested in it. I told him I was and he said he would put my name on it. He said he would call me back in a week or so. Hopefully it won't be much more of a wait for me.
Hey guys, just thought I would drop a quick note to tell you guys not to give up. I am in SoCal and talked to a bunch of dealers from Ontario to Huntington Beach. At one pt I got desperate and even talked to a dealer from the bay area. Anyway, after my bf got one dealer at Power Toyota to give me a white prius package #6 touring at MSRP I called up my first dealer (who I also had a $500 deposit with) and low and behold all of a sudden he got a white prius package #6 (no touring) in and was able to sell that to me at MSRP too! I don't know if it was coincidence or more games dealers play but the end result was that from start to finish it was only about 3.5 wks for me to get the prius I wanted w. the package I wanted so definitely don't give up. hanhster
Had to register just to get in on this thread. We got on the waitlist at two dealers in the St. Louis area on May 19. We're looking for a package #2, and were very flexible on color. Both dealers are selling at MSRP, and neither charged a deposit. Both dealers told us 4-6 months, and that we might get an '08 or an '09. Then we got a call from one of the dealers early this month that they had been allocated a Prius in our second-choice color (magnetic gray) that was being currently being built, and they assigned our name to it. No update on an arrival date yet, but we're excited. We are making the transition from a two car (well, one station wagon and one minivan) family, to a one Prius family who rides their bikes or walks whenever they can. Cheers, Dave
I posted this information on another thread but felt their might be of interest to people on this thread. I went to a dealer early this morning to get an oil change for my '08 Prius. Much to my shock, there sitting on the lot were 3 '08 Prii and an '07 used from a car rental. The dealer was willing to sell me one in person even though they claimed they had 25 on a waiting list. It was a package #2 for $26,800. I did not end up buying one because they only offered my husband $12,000 for an 06 Jeep Commander that he paid $20,000 for in Mar. '08 and he said "No." (Much to my sadness.) I don't know if all dealers work this way but maybe it would pay to do some early morning runs at your local dealership.
Just got a call from one of 2 dealers with whom I have an order. Placed the order back on May 23rd and was told 4-8 weeks. The dealer now tells me that Toyota isn't allocating any more '08s and that maybe I should consider a Corolla. !!????!!! I find it hard to believe that the situation is that dire.
Terry - if this is to me I darn wish I had my Pri. But, alas, I remain on the list. Just waiting on my call.... hone:
Sorry about the car that was totaled last week. Hope nobody was hurt. So I guess you need some wheels, pronto. Right?
I was supposed to pick up my car on June 16th, but no car arrived. Now they are telling me there is a "truckers strike" that may delay my delivery. I have been riding my bicycle around the neighborhood coasting and gliding to prepare myself for the arrival
I've been waiting since May4th, and getting it this Friday. I went on a waiting list in California. I know how you all feel.
i can only echo do not give up hope. i put my name on 4 dealers list for a touring preference package 2-6 in any color other than black silver or driftwood the last week of may.called all them last week and i am making steady progress up the lists and should get some possibilities in the next one to two allocations (2-4 weeks). to date have been offered a black #6 non touring which i passed on. i saw a silver pine mica today on the way home from work , i think this is my #1 color choice.
