    One reason they are more common is the dang things don't wear out. There is about 1-2 orders of magnitude lower stress on/in hybrids compared to ordinary heat engine vehicles. Even the plug-ins give the heat engines significant mechanical relief. If you don't load them, they last a long, long time.
