The outer lense cracked on the CHMSL on my Gen III, Model II. Apparently moisture killed the light and I need a new one. Since, I'm about an hour drive to the nearest Toyota dealer and have been trying to find an online source to no avail. Does anyone know of an online source (cheap is good) that actually sells the third brake light? Every site I've found lists "universal" CHMSL. BTW, auto salvage yards are also an hour or more away. Thanks, Fran
Have you tried parts.com? I have ordered a few things from them no problem. Tough part is looking up the part number. [edit] - Wow, it seems like many toyota sites are down (they must be related).
Think I found it at a site... spendy! I am still trying to get the actual part number... 2010 Toyota Prius REAR LAMPS High mounted stop lamp High mount lamp Larry Miller Toyota [edit] - Another slightly cheaper site: http://www.toyota-parts-dealer.com/seccat/prius-1390/2010/high-mount-lamp-31017/137/31017/
Interesting issue. How did moisture get in? Was it defective or did something happen to it to cause this result? Just wondering. thx.
My wife had the hatch up in the garage and the garage door opener hit the CHMSL and put a crack/hole in it about a year ago. I was driving behind her and noticed the light was out. I took it off the car and noticed corrosion on some of the electrical contacts. Fran
Thanks for all the input everyone. I ended up going with parts.com. They were $1 less than the other 2 listed, even with their high shipping charges. I placed my order at 6:29 eastern time, 1 minute before the start of the Superbowl. In hindsight, I should have placed it 1 minute before the end of the 4th quarter because of the dismal performance by the Patriot's receivers.. NY deserved to win. :cheer2: But, that's an other story!! Fran
