25 minute drive from the high desert to Palm Springs. Sure it was mostly downhill driving, but there were quite a few lights and stop signs along the way. And I was not going too slow either...

Yeah, in my 3 years of ownership this is the first time I have seen 99.9 MPG on a trip that isn't driving around the parking lot. My best score until yesterday is in my avatar. That was a 1 hour long steep downhill drive from Idyllwild to Palm Springs, no stops and a lot of braking.

This is a regular Prius Two, by the way, not a plug-in. I drive in "Eco Mode" and I am usually light on the pedal when stopping at signs/lights...

I've seen under 3.0 liter/100 km (around 80 mpg US), when refilling and resetting the trip meter, if I fill up at the Chevron at the west end of the Barnett Highway (Burnaby, BC, with a fully warmed up engine. The next km or two is relentless downhill, then it's easy secondary highway speed into Port Moody. It settles back down eventually though. :)

Look for a longer downhill. I did this coming down from Mt. Rainier National Park:

MPG fell below the upper peg soon thereafter, dropping to 91.3 MPG at 100 miles.

Some more skilled PC members here in the U.S. have been able to hold MPG to the upper peg on level ground, for a whole tank. Though with lower average speeds.

Then are were the Japanese hypermilers, with hypermiling-friendly commuting conditions. Their results were other-worldly.

That's fantastic. I wonder if the trip odometer would have agreed with the trip details screen if I had reset it.

My photo was from a 2010. The summary display for you photo didn't appear until the 2012 refresh, so a trip meter was my only choice back then.

Based on your displayed time and distance, your average speed should have been about 28.6 mph, +/- 4%. The trip meter display counts all ignition-on time, including sitting in parking lots and at stop lights, so it isn't a rolling average.

Oh I didn't know the 2010-2011 didn't have the summary. And yes, you are correct about the speed. I hit some surface streets in Desert Hot Springs that slowed me down....

2010-2011 lack the summary, 2012 and later have it.
