First time post. I drove a 1995 camry into the ground and kept it going to almost 250k because of forums like this. Then i started driving a 2010 prius. It has not required much from me until lately and now i'm back in forum land. Happy to have an "old" toyota again.

So the car threw a code p2103 and would cut out pretty regularly. 12v battery also was done. So i have replaced the 12v battery and i also cleaned the old throttle body unit. Still throwing the same code so i'm going to replace the throttle body unit now.

seems like a couple bolts and a new gasket which I have purchased and am ready to throw in so i'm planning on just doing this myself. Am i missing anything? Seems like a straightforward and easy repair.

    Thanks in advance.

Replacing the throttle body is an easy DIY job. The hardest thing to do is the two coolant hoses. You can pinch off the hoses and remove them from the existing throttle body, then put them onto the new throttle body. There is no need to drain the coolant from the radiator.

There are seven pages of troubleshooting steps in the repair manual for that code, to help decide whether the problem is in the throttle body or somewhere else, like the wiring. The steps are simple enough if you have a multimeter. Might be worth checking before just swapping the throttle body.

So does the car still run and cut out even after cleaning and all of that Is it drivable or it's cutting out so much you can't drive it sounds like you're on the right track I had the same problem in a 2013 and just changed it with one I had and the problem went away as the car has been in no accidents and all the wiring is in great shape I didn't think anything was burnt up or messed up down line The car mechanically and under the hood looks new.

ya car is cutting out. i am not able to move it right now. good to hear it worked.

i did this quickly. I'm gonna give it one more check though before i do the swap just in case i missed something the first time. I can't seem to find the 7 pages again on the forum - found em and then lost track of me. any chance you know where they're at?

this is good news! thank you.
